The cost is $45 per person, per day and includes 15 drinks per day priced $8 or less.

SODA CARDS
If you will only be drinking Soft Drinks, there is a $50 Soda Card that can be purchased online for $25.  (Do the math on that)  This is for fountain drinks at any bar.  This card is available to purchase online at www.HollandAmerica.com when you log in and review your reservation.

BEFORE YOU GO

REMEMBER YOUR PASSPORT
Don't pack your passport in your checked bag. Keep it in your purse or personal bag. Because unexpected things happen, make a copy to carry with you.

CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY
Let your credit card company know where you'll be traveling so they aren't surprised when you charge from unusual, exotic locations and shut you down.

DON'T FORGET...
At the end of all this important information is a list we started of things to pack.y to carry with you and also leave a copy home with someone you can reach in an emergency.

WELCOME TO TAMPA - Thursday

HOTEL SHUTTLES FROM THE AIRPORT
If you are staying at the Doubletree Westshore or Marriott Westshore you should collect your luggage and call the hotel for a shuttle to the hotel.
Doubletree         813-879-4800
Marriott              813-287-2555

CHECKING IN
If you are staying at the Doubletree or coming to the Doubletree for the party, you can stop by the SBC Welcome table to check in and pick up your gift bag and party wristband (if purchased) and Delbert's new signed CD (if purchased) .

PRE CRUISE PARTY  -  DOUBLETREE WESTSHORE  -  4500 W CYPRESS ST, TAMPA
Although the actual party doesn't begin until 7pm, SBC cruisers will be gathering at the pool, in the lobby, and in the bar much earlier...  so come on over!
If you have purchased a party ticket, you can pick up your wristband at the SBC Welcome table while picking up your gift bag.
The party will feature light hors-d'oeuvres... a cash bar... and entertainment by Delbert;  Gary Nicholson; Teresa James & The Rhythm Tramps, The World Famous Headliners, Shelley King, and Wayne Toups.

SAILAWAY DAY - Friday

GETTING TO THE PIER FROM THE AIRPORT
If you are flying into Tampa (TPA) the day of the cruise, you are about 10 miles from the pier.
A couple options are:
* Take a cab for approximately $30 + tip
* Arrange Holland America transfers in advance by calling 866-929-2332.  $22, per person one way;  $44 per person, round trip.

GETTING TO THE PIER FROM THE SBC HOTELS
If you are staying at the Doubletree Westshore or Marriott Westshore and have reserved a spot on the SBC bus to the pier;  you should be in the lobby at 11am.  The bus is from All Access Transportation.
Be sure to have $15 CASH to give the driver.

If you are driving or taking a cab, you will go to Port Tampa Bay Cruiseport - Terminal 3.
651 Channelside Dr, Tampa
Terminals are subject to change, so check at the entrance to the port.

BOARDING THE SHIP
Boarding begins around 11am and you must be on board by 3pm.  There is usually an early rush, so we suggest arriving at the pier around 1-2pm.
When you board the ship, your cabin may not be ready and your curbside checked bags could take a couple hours to be delivered, so anything you might want right away should be packed in your carry-on bag.

SHORESIDE LOUNGERS
Calling all Facebook Shoreside Lounge members!
Webmaster Page will be hosting a reception at the Gallery Bar on Deck 2 from 2pm to 3pm.
Come by and meet the fun folks that you've been chatting with online!

FIRST TIMERS
Is this your first SBC cruise and you're not sure where to start?  Come by the Queens Lounge on Deck 2 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm to meet Sara, the SBC Ambassador of Fun and get questions answered.

IF YOU ENCOUNTER ANY OBSTACLES ON THE WAY TO THE CRUISE
We will be in the SBC office at 1-800-DELBERT until Tuesday January 3rd.
After that we will be in Tampa getting ready for the cruise.  We will check phone messages and email up until sailing but if you need to reach us with an emergency, cancellation or flight delay that won't get you to the ship by 3pm please call 615-390-4643.

ONBOARD THE OOSTERDAM

PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE
Here is the much anticipated Performance Schedule.  As always, it is subject to change due to weather and other things beyond our control.

ONBOARD ETIQUETTE
Here at Sandy Beaches Cruises, we don't like to have a bunch of rules.  They cramp our style and then we have to go around and call people out.  So let's all be considerate of our fellow cruisers and treat each other like we would like to be treated.

Here are a few guidelines:
  •  It's not cool to save seats for a show while you're off having dinner or seeing another performance. If you want to see a particular show from a particular seat... take a book and get there early.
  •
  • There are designated areas for smoking.  Please use these smoking areas and don't give smokers everywhere a bad name.
  • Sometimes we don't realize how loud we are.  It happens.  Especially after a few Umbrella drinks.
  • So let's be diligent about keeping our voices down during shows.  And if the person next to you says, "you may not realize how loud you are"...  he's not saying it just to make you mad so don't go nuts.
See where I'm going with this?

SMOKING
The Oosterdam is smoke free with the exception of cigarette smoking on Starboard side verandas; the Sea View Bar on Deck 9 and the Sport Deck on Deck 11 Aft.
Pipe & cigar smoking is only permitted on Starboard side verandas.
Smoking inside any of the cabins or suites is prohibited and subject to a $250 cleaning fee.

DELBERT'S NEW CD  -  Prick Of The Litter
If you pre ordered Delbert's new CD thru your SBC online account, and didn't pick it up at the pre-party,  you can claim it in Merch World.
Merch World is in the Hudson Room on Deck 3 Forward and is THE PLACE to find Sandy Beaches Cruise and Artist merchandise.   CDs ordered thru Amazon are not available for pickup.  Those will be mailed to you.

MEDICINE REQUIRING REFRIGERATION
The mini-coolers in the cabins do not stay cold enough to store medication that needs to be refrigerated.  Medicine should be stored in the refrigerators at the Infirmary.

LAUNDRY
There many options for getting your laundry done while onboard.  Full details and prices will be in your cabin.

INTERNET
Wireless is available in your cabin and public areas.  You can pay by the minute ($.75) or choose one of the Internet plans when you're onboard.

NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER

Sandy Beaches Cruise 23 is just around the corner. What happens next?
On December 1st, you will receive an email with your Booking Number and instructions for logging in at Holland America. At this time you can print your boarding documents and book shore excursions.
This is when many guests do a Happy Dance!  Delbert will be happy, but he doesn't dance much, so it's hard to tell.

FROM WENDY

Delbert has finally finished his new record! The vinyl is being pressed as you are reading this. It's called "Prick of the Litter" (clever, right?) and it's different from anything else Delbert has done. Of course, it's still Delbert at his best.
You will be the first to get access to the CD and LP on SBC 23!
If you go into your online cruise reservation before December 31st, you can pre-order autographed CDs for $15 and pick them up on board when Merch World opens.  (Molly will have a list).
Otherwise, the onboard price goes up to $20,  unautographed,
Albums can be purchased the same way.  They will be $25 in advance for an autographed copy or $30 on the ship, not autographed.
Don't miss the boat!  Order your CD now and you'll be listening to brand new Delbert music on Saturday January 7th!!

NEW ARTIST

We are pleased to announce Jaston Williams will be joining us on SBC 23.  He will be performing "Life After Lubbock," with SBC alum Kimmie Rhodes.  "Life After Lubbock" is a performance that is described as sitting around in a living room and swapping stories and songs.  The format is loose- Kimmie and Jaston and whoever might join them, has the freedom to go off-script at any time.  So many artists such as Delbert and Terry Allen and Buddy Holly and Mac Davis, etc. grew up in Lubbock, and there are stories to tell.  You might know Jaston's other works.  He wrote and starred with Joe Sears in "Greater Tuna," "Christmas Tuna," and all the other variations of life in fictitious Tuna, TX.

SANDY BEACHES CRUISE

WWW.SANDYBEACHESCRUISE.COM          1-800-DELBERT          CRUISECONTROL@DELBERT.COM

A NOTE FROM WENDY

Dear Cruisers,

The year is flying by and we're getting closer to the cruise. Life is treating us well and I hope it is for you, too.

This weekend on September 24th, Delbert is hosting the first annual Land Cruise in Dallas with Marcia Ball, the Quebe Sisters, and Teresa James. Delbert loves being surrounded by talented women.

Delbert and I just came back from the Big Blues Bender in Las Vegas. It was great to see cruise favorites Mingo Fishtrap, Teresa James, Jimmy Hall, and The McCrary Sisters. It was also a treat to see so many cruisers like Missy, Vicki, Terry & Sharon, Gordon & Sue, Sarah, Mary, Amy, Kevin & Lorraine, Brian & Karen, Jerry & Diane, Nancy, Bill & Pat, Cheryl, Reni, Carole, Kelly, Laura, Sylvia, Mindy, Michael, Kristin, AC & Margaret, Becky, Chip & Ann, Rich & Donna, Joe & Barbara, Dan & Tonya, Dan & Sandra, Marc & Cindy, Mark & Maureen, Dawn, Dana, Kathy, Don & Alice, Nina, Andie, Julie, Jenny, Kelly, Bobby & Alice, Sandy, Russ, Lars, JT, and many more that I heard were there but didn't see!

AJ Gross hosts the Bender and he and Laurie Frost are so gracious and caring. I'm so proud to share fans with this event.

We all know how incredible the songwriters' shows are- Sharon Vaughn (My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys, Trip Around the Sun, etc., etc.) will be doing a show this year with "friends". Sharon will be joined by co-writers and artists to sing songs she's written. Al Anderson, Delbert, Bob DiPiero and others will vocalize Sharon's great songs. One more great show to attend!

~ Wendy

LEAVING ON A JET PLANE

If you haven't booked your flights yet, it's time to start looking. Southwest Airlines has service to Tampa and with 2 free bags per passenger, we think it's always a good choice. For a good overview of rates for all the other airlines, Orbitz.com is a very good resource.

If you are flying in the day of departure, you should try to land by 2pm so you can collect your bags and be on board the Oosterdam by 3pm

When we return on the 13th, it's best to book a flight home after Noon. If there's a great flight at 11am, you'll probably be OK with it... but any earlier than that just adds stress to your day. Cruise ships are usually on time, but delays because of Customs and Immigration do happen.

PRE-CRUISE HOTEL

The SBC Pre Party hotel, the Doubletree has sold out. We have a 2nd hotel, the Marriott, just across the street. You can get rooms for $189 (plus taxes) while they last. We will have a shuttle running from the Marriott to the Doubletree for the party so you won't miss anything. Click HERE to book your room at the Marriott.

ALUMNI CREDIT

All full paying guests will receive $10 in CABIN CREDIT for every past SBC cruise they have sailed on. This can used for Bar Drinks, Spa Services, Artist Merchandise and MORE!

FROM MOLLY

If you haven't checked in lately, please click HERE to log into your SBC account to review your information and update as needed. It's important that your First & Last name match your passport.

While there you can make your cabin bed request (1 or 2) and also let us know of any special requirements you will have on board such as Mobility Needs, Severe Allergies, Diabetes, Respirator Needs or Service Animals.

IMPORTANT DATES

November 1st

Final payments are due. You can pay with a Check, Visa or Mastercard. If you have an outstanding balance, you will receive a final statement by email on October 15th.

December 1st

Booking numbers will be emailed. With your Booking Number, you can check in at Holland America and print your Boarding Pass and cruise documents. You can also book Shore Excursions.

That's all for now, but you be sure there will be lot's more to come.

Stay tuned and we'll be back before you know it.

Thanks from all of us here at Sandy Beaches Cruises.

A NOTE FROM WENDY

Hi everybody!  Delbert, Molly, Gary Turlington, and I have just come back from a cruise on the Oosterdam, our ship of choice for January's cruise.  Just Wow- Molly will give you details later in this letter.

I am going to make a call on the possibility of sailing to Cuba in January. It's more of a process than I anticipated- in terms of my time and what needs to be done to get this accomplished. I sailed to Cuba in May with Sharon Vaughn on the first cruise ship to visit in 50 years. I was overwhelmed by the welcome the ship received at every port. The people of Cuba were so excited to see us. People were cheering, flags were waving and we felt so exhilarated. I still want to share Cuba with you, but it won't happen this year. (Insert frustrated sigh here).

In happier news- "Mars Czar" Scott Hubbard will be joining us again on SBC 23. There is always new information from Mars and maybe he can share the excitement of the Juno probe reaching Jupiter after a 5 year journey.

If you pay your balance in full by August 1st, you may be eligible for a $50 per person discount.

Please contact us before your make your final payment so we can apply the discount.

ARTIST ANNOUNCMENT

We are thrilled to announce Anson Funderburgh, Bluz House Rockers, Bruce Channel, Danny Flowers, Doyle & Debbie, Gary Nicholson, Jimmy Hall, Kimmie Rhodes, Kree Harrison, Lee Roy Parnell, Mike Zito, Mingo Fishtrap, Sharon Vaughn, Shelley King, The Band of Heathens, Spooner Oldham, The Howlin' Brothers and Tom Hambridge will be joining us on board SBC 23.

This is in addition to our previously announced artists, Marcia Ball, The Mavericks, Marc Broussard, Fred Eaglesmith, Clay McClinton, The Quebe Sisters, Wayne Toups, Red Young, World Famous Headliners, Teresa James, Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real, Etta Britt, The McCrary Sisters, Big Joe Maher, Lari White and of course, Delbert!

Stay tuned... there will be more to come.

FROM MOLLY

The newly refurbished Oosterdam is looking good!
One of the most exciting changes is that they replaced the Northern Lights disco with the Gallery Bar which is very nice and opens to the Casino.

All of the cabins have been updated with new, large flat screen televisions; new bedding; and USB ports.

All the Neptune & Signature Suites have been completely redone and are stunning.  If you've ever thought about upgrading to a suite... this would be a good year!

SMOKING POLICY CHANGE

After a dry dock when Holland America upgrades a ship, there are often policy changes.

In this case there have been changes to the Oosterdam Smoking Policy that everyone should be aware of.

*  Smoking is no longer allowed in any interior areas of the Oosterdam.  This includes all cabins and the Casino, where smoking was previously allowed.

*  Smoking is ONLY permitted outdoors at the Lido Bar (Deck 9 aft, Starboard) and on Starboard side verandahs. Smoking is no longer allowed on the outdoor Deck 3 Promenade, where it was previously allowed.

SBC asks all guests who wish to smoke on their verandah to choose a cabin or suite on the Starboard side of the ship (Odd Numbered cabins) so the verandahs on the Port side can be completely smoke free.  If you wish to smoke on your verandah, or have guests that will want to smoke on your verandah, please check your cabin or suite reservation to be sure it is an odd numbered.

That's all for now, but you be sure there will be lot's more to come.

Stay tuned and we'll be back before you know it.

Thanks from all of us here at Sandy Beaches Cruises.

A NOTE FROM WENDY

Hi Everyone!  SBC 23 is scheduled to go to Falmouth, Jamaica and Georgetown, Grand Cayman. That said, I am hoping to change it to Cuba if I can get permission from the Cuban government. I will be traveling to Cuba next week and all I can do is try. Delbert and I had a great time in Cuba last December when we attended a film festival. The people were friendly and open. I did make some contacts in the government and I'm going to pursue permission. Travel to Cuba is easier than it's ever been, but the doors are not wide open. If our destinations change, we will immediately let you know.

Now that you have your cabin picked out and your reservation in place for SBC 23, there is one more very important thing to do.

Go to delbert.com and click on RESERVATIONS in the menu on any page. Log into your SBC account to review your information to make sure everything is current. While there, you can set up automatic monthly payments if you like. If you have any trouble getting logged in, just click FORGOT YOUR USER NAME OR PASSWORD and follow the prompts.

Your account name should match your passport. This is something that cannot be changed online, so if that needs to be updated, call 1-800-Delbert.

SBC 23 HOTEL AND PRE-CRUISE PARTY

We are pleased to announce that the SBC 23 Pre Cruise Party will be held at the Doubletree Tampa Airport/ Westshore. The cost is $25 and includes entertainment and hors d/oeuvres with cash bars mere steps away. Party tickets can be added at any time by logging into your SBC account or calling 1-800-DELBERT.

The Doubletree will also be the Official SBC hotel. We have a limited number of rooms available at the rate of $189 plus tax. You will be able to book the hotel directly with the hotel by using this LINK.

Remember that this is not a package that includes your hotel, party and transportation. SBC will provide information and suggestions but each guest is responsible for booking their own hotel and arranging transportation. Our host hotels always sell out quickly, so don't delay in booking. And if you're traveling solo, please consider doubling up to save some cash and having more rooms available for SBC cruisers... : )

If you have any questions, give me a call at 1-800-Delbert.
Take Care,
~ Molly
